How To Add Your Voice to Twitter

Nothing surprises me anymore, and now it is actually possible to add your own voice, or other sounds, to your tweets at Twitter.

A new site has popped up in my ”IM periscope” that allows you to record a sound, or your voice, whatever you want, and this can be added to a tweet! Realize the implications: you can only get people to see the message, you can now also add your voice to it. Double whammy!

Add your marketing message for one, add urgency, or simply add you, the nice voice behind the tweets. Okay, go ahead, you know you want it, there are a bunch of other sounds you can think of uploading. I’ll leave it to your imagination

For many online marketers, getting customers on twitter seems to be the main purpose for using twitter. And I’m not here to start complaining about this purpose. It’s just that way too many internet marketers use social media advertising with twitter this way and do it way too randomly or often.

There’s a right way to advertise successfully on twitter and get twitter customers, and there’s a wrong way. Let me explain. If you want to use social media for your advertising, you’re on the right track. Social media, and twitter in particular, have grown so dramatically during recent times, it’s almost impossible for marketers not to use that popularity to their advantage.

But in being busy becoming social media advertising gurus, it’s perhaps easy to forget what social medial and twitter is all about. Socialising, sharing, discussing, helping! Ok, it’s my opinion, but I feel it’s a valid one. So let’s take twitter as the main focus. Lots of marketers use twitter extensively to promote as many products as they can, with lots of affiliate links in thousands of tweets all over twitter. And in fact, this can work.

But it gets annoying for your twitter followers to see link after link appear and nothing else. Yes, some people will click on them, and yes, some people might even buy your product, or service, and become a twitter customer so to speak. But you can do so much better. Here are 3 tips I think will help you avoid losing twitter customers and instead gain loyal followers as well as grow your online, or offline, business using social media advertising.

1. Please stop posting heaps of affiliate or other self-promotional links in your tweet. Send 7-10 social, helpful, advice giving, news commenting, of whatever other tweets, and then send 1 promotional tweet. Hey, you deserve it by then, and you’ll even likely to get many more loyal followers who see you adding value on a regular basis.

2. Really do add value. You can add entertainment value by being funny, interesting, a ‘real character’ with your tweet. But you can of course add great value by showing your followers the location of great resources, giving away great tips specific to your follower’s market, or tools to do better or more efficient business. And nobody minds a great bargain. Just don’t always make it your affiliate link.

3. When you do post a self-promotional link, and a person clicks on it to check it out, make sure that link leads to an optin page and grab their name and email address. They will get to what you have to offer after that, but you will be building your optin list steadily, and as you know, the money is in marketing to your “real list”, not your twitter list. There you have it. I have written about getting followers before, but it is of course possible to add value and get loyal twitter followers totally on auto-pilot. Or did you not know this? But you can upgrade cheaply, as for just $30 per year (less that $3 per month!), you can make much longer and better videos, download them to your pc etc. You can distribute them to youtube and stuff like that. You are now also seen as someone who is willing to share other people’s information, and not just your own. This leads to more followers and popularity. You can also promote products this way, but I would definitely share useful information and even funny stuff, ideally related to your interest or niche.

4. You are now starting to get followers. But you can also follow others who have the same interest as you. This is a great strategy. You could do a Google search for say “twitter + golf” if you like golf, or “twitter + gardening” if that’s your passion. There are also websites around that can tell you directly who is interested in which topic. One of those sites is www.twellow.com Just enter your keyword (e.g gardening), and the people on twitter with that interest come up on the screen, ready for you to follow. And here’s the thing: they might like you too when they see your profile and follow you back! Do this often, and you’ll see your twitter follower list grow steadily. Now, it is actually possible to get a large part of this process fully automated, and save a massive amount of time. Can You Use Masses Of Twitter Followers For Your Business?

Getting twitter followers can be as important for your business as ‘ordinary’ traffic from other sources. But hang on, I hope you have heard of twitter by now, or have an account yourself. If not, get one! Twitter is the new way to connect with people by means of quick, 140 character messages.

Why is this important? Because if you are a marketer, or need traffic to your website, twitter traffic can be an amazing source for that. Connecting with people through twitter is kinda fun and addictive. But you can waste an enormous amount of time if you’re not careful. Its fun, and its even more fun if people start to follow you, and become your twitter followers.

Your twitter followers list gradually build up over time, as people start to notice you and become interested in what you have to say or to offer. But if you’re a savvy internet marketer or business person, you can use this to get targeted twitter traffic to your links and websites. Yes, people do click on your links, this is a fact. So if you could get lots of followers and twitter traffic, you could develop whole new source of traffic for your business. Would that be a good thing? (hmm…). So what could a great follower list do for you? If you follow this carefully, you can almost calculate how many will click on average, depending on how many followers you have, and what this does to your business. Use Twitter To Build A ‘Twitter List’

Twitter rocks! It’s probably the most popular, or fastest growing social network tool around on the web right now. Everybody has to start somewhere, so why not learn about it here? Even celebrities such as Barack Obama or Christopher Walken use it nowadays. You can be sure they are building a nice long twitter list full of followers. But if you’re new, do you even know what twitter is, how to use it, how to build your twitter list and get followers and what to talk about in a little 140 character message? Let me explain.

Twitter is a fairly simple online system whereby you simply sign up for a free account at www.twitter.com, fill in some details, and then you will get your own profile page which would be called www.twitter.com/username. Now you’re ready to rock’n roll. My twitter page is http://www.twitterjan.com/ It looks different but I got a domain and re-directed it to this page /tip/YTO/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.twitter.com%2FJBanis

Just for my own cunning marketing reasons

So what next? Well, you can now say whatever you want to people (within reason), and you have 140 characters to do it. Not much, but you quickly get used to it. Saying ‘anything’ is a whole lot of stuff for some, who send lots and lots of messages, while for others it’s just the the occasional ‘tweet’ a few times a week. It is up to you.

So what you can say? Like a blog, (in this case a ‘microblog’), you can tell the world about your life, your interests, your hobbies, your ups and downs, news items you saw, anything at all. Be creative. And if you manage to make it interesting, you will get responses from fellow twitterers, a conversation develops, and you are now building relationships.

And even better, people might decide to follow your tweets: You are now building your twitter list. You can also decide to follow people yourself as you come across interesting stuff they talk about. And then you can click their picture, go to their profile page, and click “follow”. Simple as that. Now you can also send direct messages to each other (unless they turned that option off). This can honestly become very addictive.

You build online relationships with people, some based on interests, some maybe based on business. It doesn’t matter. Let me tell you, it might not sound like a big deal, but it sure is. And here’s where it gets interesting. You can literally build a twitter list with thousands of twitter followers if you are talking about stuff that interests people, or if you perhaps offer information that people find helpful. For example by adding links to your tweets leading to websites full of useful, or funny information, or tools or anything.

Or, and this is cool, you get people to come and visit your own site. Can you see the potential here? What if you could, over time, get thousands of twitter followers (and believe me, this is very possibly), and create some amazing twitter traffic to you websites? Can you see the potential of having a long twitter list if you sell a product or a service? Of course you do! I’d say go ahead and experiment with twitter and building your list. But take my advice and build relationships too. Don’t just gather followers randomly. What do you have in common?

If you don’t know about Twitter by now, even after having heard how Barack Obama used it to his advantage during the election campaign, then maybe it’s time to change your mind: Twitter is here to stay, and getting Twitter followerswill be one of you main tasks for your internet marketing business. Think about it. If you get lots and lots of Twitter followers, and I mean targeted followers with similar interests, then you have this network of people who you can communicate with, instantly. Why do I say 400 people? Well, this of course depends on how many followers you have. But a while ago I saw a neat system that gave the owner of it, Bill Crosby, 400 clicks when he sent a link. At that time it was of course all the rage but there was an issue with using Twitter in the name of his product I believe, so I hunted for another product that would help make Twitter a real profit haven. Boy did I find it!

Backlinking Strategy

Hello good people! I found a nice strategy you can use to get backlinks to your website. I recently acquired a great little tool for SEO, and it’s free. It’s called Traffic Travis and it helps you determine what you should improve on your website for SEO purposes. For those who wonder “what is SEO?”; Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is all about trying to manipulate certain factors on your website in order to improve your ranking in the search engines. Acquiring backlinks from other sites is one of those things that will help. I got the following strategy below straight from the Traffic Travis website. Remember this is just an example of a decent strategy. There are other ways and the idea is to mix it all up a bit. Have a read through it anyway. You can get more information on SEO topics if you get this totally free product. Very nice! Here’s the strategy (it assumes you know what WEB 2.0 pages are, like Twitter, Hubpages, Squidoo etc.)

Create 3 x 300 word articles that are on the keyword topic you want to rank for. Make sure they use compelling titles and have the keyword in the title. Have the keywords in the opening and closing paragraph and once or twice in the body. Make sure the content has a purpose and directs the people to take action.
Create a high quality lens at Squidoo and post the content with a link back to your main site using the keyword you’d like to rank for.
Go to Twitter and make a post that says something like… ” I created a new lens at http:// www….url to lens”. This is to get your backlink spidered.
Create a hub page at Hubpages, add your second article with a link to your main site using your keywords, and add the RSS feed from the Squidoo page to your hub page.
Post on Twitter about that to get that backlink spidered.
Create a blog at Blogger.com, add the third article with a link back to your main site using your keyword and add the RSS feed from the Squidoo and Hubpages page to your blog.
Post on Twitter about that to get that backlink spidered.
Create a page at Tumblr and add the RSS feed from your new pages (Tumblr allows you to add up to 5 pages).
Post on Twitter about that to get that backlink spidered.
Create a page at FeedBite.com with the RSS feed from all the previous sites.
Post on Twitter about that to get that backlink spidered.
Create an account at Bumpzee and add your Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger and Tumblr RSS feed.
Go to Ping.in and ping all the pages you’ve just created, including your Twitter page.

This seems a good backlinking strategy. I would through social bookmarking in the mix, but that’s for another post.
